The Dreaded Marketplace

We have been limiting our use of Facebook Marketplace as a source for vehicles and parts due to the sheer trove of idiotic responses we receive from the platform. It seems like many users are bots or some other sort of data scalpers just trying to gather information about the person who is posting the listing.

Bots aside, a large majority of users on Facebook Marketplace seem to have forgotten how to read. They always ask questions already answered by the posting itself, no matter what you do to highlight the features and details within your listing. As annoying as it is, the canned response “Is this still available?” makes us feel like somehow they have also forgotten how to logically inquire about a purchase.

Regardless of what truly is going on over in Meta land, we have been pulling ADs and deleting the app in favor of going old school. By using Craigslist and alternate automotive only online classified communities, we have saved our sanity. While it might take a little longer to sell, we feel it’s worth the reduced frustration & headaches. The kind of people you end up meeting have a higher chance of being ‘car guys/gals’ as well, which can make letting go of your ride that much easier knowing its in good hands.

This really might be the final straw on marketplace.

If all else fails, enjoy that ride while you still have it, go for a drive with a for sale sign in the window and cruise around town.
