You found that cute little Honda Acty and almost bought it before going to bed, so what exactly is that thing anyway?
The Honda Acty is a Kei Truck – which means it is smaller than your average vehicle here in America.
Manufactured for the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM), the Kei class of vehicles has restricted dimensions and engine specifications, meaning that it and any other Kei car or truck will have 660cc or less engine displacement. Overall horsepower will vary, but was capped at 63 horsepower in late model years.
Should I just buy a golf cart and be done with it?
You could, but what is the fun in being like everyone else. Gas golf carts have 10-20 horsepower and are limited to about 15-25MPH on average. Kei cars and trucks can drive on normal roadways (*may vary in your state) because they have a top speed closer to 60+MPH.
Not only do Kei cars perform better than golf carts, almost all will have heat/AC and everything else you would expect in a normal daily driver. Since they are compact vehicles, you can parallel park with ease and even tuck it away in that dark scary corner of your garage for safe keeping.
